A Fall on the Ice Really Hurt

I slipped on a patch of ice not long ago and fell hard on the sidewalk. I thought that I had bruised nothing more than my ego, but it only took one attempt to stand up for me to know that I hurt my back. It was definitely hurting, but I just assumed that anyone who fell hard like that would have an initial burst of pain. This was so much more than that though, and I am so thankful that I was able to get in to see a chiropractor in Huntington NY the same day I fell.

My husband wanted me to go see our family doctor, but I said no for two reasons. The first is because I knew that I would not be able to get an appointment for at least a few days. The pain was increasing with every passing hour, and I did not want to see how much I could take before I went to the emergency room at the local hospital. The second reason is because I knew he would just want to write me a prescription for pain pills, even though I have told him several times that I do not want to take pills if I can avoid it.

Instead, I contacted my sister’s chiropractor, someone I had been meaning to see for a few months anyway. I was able to get in that same day when I told them how much I was hurting, and I was hoping they would be able to do an adjustment on me to curtail the pain. My sister had told me how the adjustments make her feel afterwards, and I was so desperate to just stop hurting. Well, I can thankfully say that the pain did lessen a good bit after my first adjustment that day. I went a few more times for that specific issue, and now I go just to better my own well being!
